From this May to early July, the Great Migration is in full swing, travelling swiftly up through the Western Corridor and Grumeti Reserve. It’s peak rutting time, as well as the beginning of the dry season, though there are still localised showers in the north. From now on, the animals’ nutrition depends largely on the growth stage of the Digitaria, Pennisetum, Eustachys and Themeda grasses anchored in nutrient-rich clay amid the woodlands.
You will land at Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha to start your African adventure. On a clear day, the views from the lodge are outstanding, the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru towering over the surrounding savannah. With birds singing from the lush treetops, this is an idyllic place to overcome any jet lag. As you settle into Tanzania you’ll notice that everything moves with a relaxed rhythm. Enjoy a guided walk coffee in coffee plantation.
We’ll take breakfast, as we’ve got a big day of exploration and adventure ahead of us! Fly across the Serengeti, crossing the epic miles of open grasslands, admiring how the changes in color indicate where the herds have grazed.
Around end of April, May and June, a vast army of wildebeests along with its partners: zebras, elands and gazelles mill around the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, south of the Grumeti River. You can encounter leopards and hyenas and ahead by giant Nile crocodiles, many hundreds perish as some hazard the river crossing while others detour it. But the beauty of the landscape, stretching without end
beneath an infinite sky on a Serengeti West Safari, changes something within the watcher, who becomes more aware of the place of humankind within the drama of the animal world

You will relish morning and afternoon game drives across the staggering Serengeti landscapes each day, ensuring you take in as much of the reserve’s picturesque wilderness as possible as well as capture stunning photography of the indigenous wildlife. Beyond the incredible game viewing on these tours, you will also enjoy the opportunity to learn more about the native Maasai people. After an extensive journey
through the bushveld, you will arrive at an authentic tribal village set amongst the unspoiled wilderness and meet the friendly villagers dressed in vibrant red robes and colorful beaded jewelry.
You spend the full day on a game drive, crossing great swathes of the Serengeti and reveling in its unadulterated scale. It’s perhaps possible to picture a hundred zebra. Maybe even a thousand. But tens of thousands? Even after witnessing this phenomenon, it seems unfathomable. Take a picnic lunch with you and stop regularly along the way, including many pools inhabited by hippos. Wait for the hippos to yawn for an iconic photo, and then continue across the grasslands to find giant elephant bulls on their nomadic journeys. Drive amongst the wildebeest then watch a herd of Thompson’s gazelle scatters as they skip towards the burning African sun.
Like all the mornings before, you will wake up to the sounds of the wilderness, from melodies of birdsong to chirping critters and the occasional cackle of wild dogs. Stepping onto your balcony with a cup of steamy tea or coffee in hand, you will gaze out over the Serengeti’s sweeping savannas and reminisce about your awe-inspiring adventures across Tanzania. You will slowly pack your things and tuck into a
